This small park has walking paths stretches between Old Quarry Road and the Bernardsville Fire Company, Bernardsville, NJ. It borders Rt 202 on the north, and the NJ Transit tracks on the south, formerly the Peapack/Gladstone Branch of the Lackawanna. The walking path stretches along a pond to the northeast, and foot bridges cross the brook on the end of the pond. There is one antique looking stone arch bridge, for which we have not found any history

Rockabye Meadow Preserve

Managed by Bedminster Twp.

Acreage:

Map: None found

Parking: ?

Trails:

When explored by Metrotrails, this preserve was not really developed, but a good portion of the long abandoned Rockaway Valley Railroad passes through. Constructed predominantly to haul peaches, it was never a money maker because of a blight that happened two years following it's construction. It was in operation, on and off, from 1888 until 1916 when it was torn up and scrapped.

The right of way through this piece of public land begins through a field, then closely follows the Black River. There are abutments that must be circumvented where a bridge once passed over. The right of way continues off of the preserve and onto private land to the north. To the south, it crosses Black River Road onto private land.
